athletic or charitable purposes in Baltimore City, if the raffle,
carnival, or bazaar is to be held there, or in Baltimore County,
if to be held there.
(b) Before the Police Commissioner of Baltimore City or
the Chief of Police of Baltimore County, as the case may be,
shall issue a permit for any such carnival, bazaar or raffle, it
shall be his duty to ascertain the character of the organization
on whose behalf the application is made to determine if such
application comes within the provisions of this section. The
application and the action taken thereon by the Police Com-
missioner of Baltimore City or the Chief of Police of Baltimore
County, as the case may be, shall be a public record.
(c) Any person, association or corporation knowingly oper-
ating or attempting to operate a bazaar or raffle as authorized
by this section in violation thereof, shall upon conviction there-
of, be subject to a fine not exceeding One Thousand Dollars
($l, 000) or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both
such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the Court.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.

(House Bill 261)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
141A and 141B of Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Cecil County", sub-title
"County Commissioners", as said sections were amended by
Chapter 574 of the Acts of 1949, increasing the payments to
the several volunteer fire companies in Cecil County and pro-
viding for the levying of taxes to pay for same.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 141A and 141B of Article 8 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Cecil
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", as said sections
